Sketching in Surat, Gujarat

Here are more sketches from our trip to Gujarat. We spent one day in Surat, which is a nice, though rather congested town. In the old city of Surat we visited old British and Dutch cemeteries. Surat was once among India’s most important ports and the Dutch and British vied to control trade from there. These sketches are of the British tombs, which are large domed structures: odd combinations of Indian and Western architecture.
