Sketching in Dungarpur, Rajasthan

Some time ago, we took a weekend trip to Dungarpur, a town in southern Rajasthan, that used to be the capital of a princely state. Old ruins from that era are still abundant there, and the main part of the town is very lively, so there was plenty to sketch. Here are our sketches of a lovely pavilion on the lake right in front of our hotel. In fact, we sketched the scene from our room window.

The hotel had a beautiful infinity pool that reached to the lake. There were elephant fountains along the edge and a pavilion adorned with plaster flowers at one end.

Mallika: I sketched an old, crumbling gate near the hotel:

On the last day, we went and sketched in the center of the town, which attracted many onlookers.

Here are the sketches from the town.
