Mohini: Dashashwamedh Ghat, Varanasi

These are sketches made at the Dashashwamedh Ghat on our last morning in Varanasi. Even in the morning it was crowded with pilgrims. The top sketch is one of my favorites. I feel it captures the commotion of people and buildings on the ghats very well. The bottom sketch is of a sadhu, or holy man. The ghats were full of sadhus in bright saffron robes. This sadhu seemed to be in the business of performing special rituals for pilgrims before they bathed in the Ganga.
